Arsenic and You The National Resources Defense Council studied EPA data from water systems in 25 states in the year 2000. The NRDC concluded that 34 to 56 million people in those states were drinking water with unsafe levels of arsenic as defined by the EPA. And what about the other 25 states? Arsenic in drinking water causes a variety of serious health problems, according to a 1999 study by the National Academy of Sciences. These include cancer as well as damage to nervous and circulatory systems and skin problems. Do you need a Multi-Pure MP880 system to filter arsenic from your water? This is the ONLY carbon-block system certified to reduce pentavalent arsenic. That means it's the only filter certified to reduce arsenic while leaving beneficial minerals in the water. (You could also use reverse osmosis or distillation--removing needed minerals along with the arsenic.) Check this US Geological Survey map showing levels of arsenic in tested groundwater in the US:
